While large disasters capture the headlines, single family home fires and loved ones suffering sudden cardiac arrest are just as devastating for those involved.

In every single case, it is mission of the American Red Cross to be there and help those in need whether disaster strikes thousands of people at once...or one family in the middle of the night.

They also are training staff and volunteers in emergency preparedness, teaching first aid and CPR classes and delivering messages for members of the Armed Forces and their families as well as collecting lifesaving blood.
