Biomedical/Blood
Services
What began as a war relief effort to provide life-saving
blood for soldiers during World War II has grown by leaps
and bounds— The American Red Cross now collects and
distributes half the nation's blood supply.
Disaster
Services
Each year, the American Red Cross responds immediately to
more than 67,000 disasters nationwide, including house or
apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), hurricanes,
floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills
and other natural and man-made disasters. All Red Cross
disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary
donations of time and money from the American people.
Health
and Safety
Last year, nearly 12 million people nationally enrolled
in American Red Cross health and safety courses. Locally,
you can help the Red Cross save lives. Become an instructor
or an authorized provider, take a course, or volunteer with
the American Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley.
International
Services
The American Red Cross works with a global network of Red
Cross, Red Crescent and equivalent societies to restore
hope and dignity to the world's vulnerable people. This
international Red Cross movement brings emergency relief
to disaster victims, and improves basic living conditions
of those in deprived areas of the world.
Service
to the Armed Forces
Your American Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley is keeping
pace with the changing military, allowing those military
members stationed all over the world to send messages to
loved ones back home during an emergency or other important
events. These communications are delivered around-the-clock,
365 days a year.
Youth
Services
The American Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley is proud to
announce a wonderful coalition with the youth of our area.
